Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an integral part of our long-term strategy because we believe that ethical operations are the obligation of all industrial producers with social and environmental impact on their communities. CSR is also a major factor when choosing our suppliers and customers, as we are always looking for partners that share our beliefs and take actions in similar directions. From our side, CSR is focused on two main channels of operation: Charity and Environmental Sustainability.
As far as charity is concerned one of our biggest goals as a company is to promote and aid local agricultural. This is achieved through memberships in agricultural nonprofit organizations which in turn subsidize local producers. In addition, when sourcing fruit for processing we always offer fair prices to ensure the survival of this deteriorating sector. Other actions include donations to support other nonprofit organizations, such as the Special Olympics Cyprus, the Cyprus Anticancer Society, and the Church which distributes our products to people in need.
With regards to environmental Sustainability and in cooperation with our main packaging supplier, Tetra Pak, all our products are FSC labelled. The Forrest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent, not for profit, non-government organization established to support environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests.
The FSC label tells our customers and end consumers that the packaging material has been independently certified to ensure it comes from responsibly managed forests and other controlled wood fibre sources. Simply put we care about the origin of our packaging materials and we make sure that sourcing meets the social, economic, and ecological needs of present and future generations.
We are also a member of Green Dot Cyprus which is the first Collective Compliance System for Packaging and Packaging Waste in Cyprus. The Organization was established as a non-profit organization, on the initiative of the local industry and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) as an umbrella organization.
Its mission is to protect the environment through recycling. As part of our ongoing environmental strategy, this partnership has enabled us to utilize our resources effectively and meet our recycling targets.
